There are various things that we can do with paper. A paper can be folded, torn, and many more. Here are several words related to the paper that you can use to enrich your vocabulary!

1. Fold

          According to Merriam Webster dictionary, fold is a verb meaning “to lay one part over another part of” as in “fold a paper”. You can also use this word with a letter as in “to fold a letter”. This word is commonly used on daily basis.

2. Tear

          Tear can function as a verb or a noun. As a verb, it means “to separate or pull something apart with force”. The verb tear can be used to describe a paper when it is torn.

          Meanwhile, there are 2 definitions of tear as a noun. The first definition refers to “a hole or damage caused from being torn” as in “mending a tear in her skirt”. As for the second definition, it is referring to a drop of water coming out of a human or animal’s eyes due to the activity of crying.

3. Crumple

          Crumple is a verb meaning “to press, bend or crush out of shape”. To crumple a paper means to crush it into out-of-shape.

4. Scrunch 

          Scrunch is a verb meaning “to crush material such as paper or cloth into a rough ball in the hand” For example, “she scrunched the paper up and threw it in the bin.”

5. Shred

          To shred up a paper means to cut or tear a paper roughly into thin strips. For example, “shredded paper”. In this context, shred functions as a verb. Shred can also function as a noun that is referring to “a very small amount of something” as in “There isn't a shred of evidence to support her accusation.”
